Broad spectrum anti-biotic just in case

I was wondering if we could get feedback on what broad spectrum anti-biotic's people's doctors give them.

I always worry if the one i get can be used for everything from a sore throat to an ear infection to an eye infection (all can easily be picked up in any pool etc)

I do think it is a must as the last thing people want is to spoil the holiday and be sick. I noticed some can be taken if exposed to sun.

I would love to hear what others take and what it covers, any hints and tips also appreciated.
