my son got a very bad ear infection. It came on at night and he had a raging temp. I had to keep him in a cool bath until morning then got antibiotics. Then I had to claim doctor bills etc. Took a few days before he was right.
After that I always took a course of antibiotics (doctor gave me a script) just in case.
Having said that you can get antibiotics over the counter in Bali.
I would still take the antibiotics if I had young children.
