Ok...you might have a job that you clearly don't enjoy much. But really...why is it the Travel Agents / Wholesalers fault that Air Paradise collapsed ? The fault ultimatey lies with those that caused the tragic events of October, and with those that cancelled en-masse causing the demise of Air Paradise. Do you think that those in the Travel Industry don't work their butts of as well ? I can tell you that the salaries are pretty damn low...most of them work on commission.....and imagine how much of that was lost when the cancellations came flooding in. There is no doubt that big companies like Flight Centre are financially able to deal with things like this....but the smaller independant offices will get royally screwed....I'm talking about potential bankruptcy.....as in staff out of work permanently....owners financially ruined, and why ?.....because people wanted the cheapest deal they could find...which was with Air Paradise. I can also assure you that if given a choice the agents would have sold you Garuda or Australian Airlines as the prices would most likely have been higher ( meaning slightly more income for the agents ) but ultimately they do what the client requests....and then get shafted a second time when things go pear shaped for the airline and nobody wants to accept the loss. Basically, " I just don't care who suffers, as long as it isn't me !! "
