A friends sister in law is a travel agent.
She does not only work on commission, but is given a wage from the company she works for.
She gets further income via commisssion for all the business she generates for her agent.
Her Agent gets commission from where they book the clients onto, and then they in turn reward their staff with commissions that are on top of their wage.
This is why when you book through a travel agent, that if the person you booked through is not available the other agents arent too keen on assiting you but would rather take a message and pass it on for you, as they will receive not money for it and they could be earning more commission with a new client of their own.
She makes very good money from her job but does work hard for it as well.
