a friend of mine just returned from Bali. Her first time there as well. She said the food was no where as cheap as she had heard it was going to be. She said most meals were anywhere from $20-30 canadian per person (200,000 to 300,000 rps). I find this to be in complete conradiction to what I have heard from other people who have been there in the past and what I have read on this site. She stayed in Kuta, and I will be in Nusa Dua/Benoa area. Did she and her hubby just end up going to all the expensive places? Perhaps she needed to venture out of the main "touristy" section, or are the meals generally as expensive as she found them to be? I was prepared to pay that much in Tokyo for my 3 night layover, but thought I was going to get away cheaply on food in Bali...doesn't change my going of course, but would just like to be prepared.

And can I also just clarify...what is a Bintang?? Is it an Australian beer? Do they have drinks like Csesars, Daquiris and flavoured Martini drinks in Bali?
