I have pledged never to bag a business on this forum or anywhere else unless totally and absolutely aware of the facts.
On this occasion, it will come as a surprise to Burhan customers what has transpired.
To clarify, Burhan (or Burhanudin)runs Permata Dewata jewellery at 6, Kalimantan Road in Denpasar.
I took a ten year old 70% gold 28 link bracelet to him to have three links removed.
The chain would obviously have twenty five links upon collection and the three removed links were to be returned.
I have ended up with a brand new 55% bracelet that is much smaller and different in other ways from the original.
Rather stupidly, Burhan was unaware that I had counted the links prior, and he has returned the bracelet with 28 links still in it!!
Were he to return the three "removed links", the game would be up upon comparison, so he returned a small blob of 55% gold saying his goldsmith melted the links down.
He has stolen a very nice 10 year old chain and replaced it with a much cheaper and rather tacky one.
Naturally I have confronted him and he denies all knowledge of impropriety and simply says "you are mistaken".
Any way, that is my experience with Burhan and I am sure that many of his loyal customers will be disbelieving.
I can only repeat that I and others familiar with our bracelet are absolutly sure that a swap has occurred and the "melting of three removed links" further compounds the attempted deception.
Be very careful when dealing with Burhan.
