Sort of a JBR

We flew Air Asia both ways Jul 25 to Aug 3
No issues with the airline or the visa lines, all very smooth and efficient

This is not a day by day JBR, just a few points that may help others; as they have helped me
I am not known for being subtle so if my points of view offend then that's too bad...flame away....It's my JBR

We were traveling in a large family group for a 50th birthday and the Adi Dharma was the hotel chosen by the birthday girl. I must admit that this is an area I never would have chosen to stay in but I was pleasantly surprised. The Adi Dharma is a great hotel with friendly staff and all the facilities that most would need. The location is a little challenging with all the little laneways, but that is part of the charm of our lovely Bali and the challenge became enjoyable after a few days.
We usually stay in Sanur so the chaos of Kuta was very different for us

We ate in lots of interesting places and my favorites were the little warungs in the back streets of Kuta. Some other places we loved were the Nirvana in Seminyak and almost opposite the Nirvana was Ultimo. Both these places are definitely worth a visit for great food and atmosphere.

This was a holiday that took a year of planning and almost didn't happen.
My dearly loved Mum passed away a week before we left and we never though all the arrangements could be made in time.
But they were, and Mum is now in a place even better than Bali.
Our time there was also a time of healing....Mum would have wanted that.

Now there are things I don't like about Bali. The traffic, the constant in your face hawkers, bargaining for everything all get on my nerves a little but it is all part of the experience and the magic of the place. We tend to go to the fixed price markets and department stores now. After six trips we generally know what we want and where to find it.
Brainless idiots on motor bikes annoy me. If only they knew how fragile life can be and how expensive medical treatment can be after the travel insurance people laugh at you.
The one unforgivable thing that annoys me to the core are the inconsiderate pigs who dare to light up a smoke while others are eating. Sorry folks I cannot describe this in any other way, I respect your right to smoke but detest the lack of respect you show in where you smoke. I was a heavy smoker myself but never smoked in confined spaces that would bother others, its just plain and simple ignorance and bad manners.
An old yarn that goes like this is that I love to drink Bintang, the waste product of my habit is urine. If I stood on your table and pis*ed on your dinner I am sure you would be offended.
You can flame me as much as you like on this issue, but at the end of it all...... I will still be right and you will be wrong....so save it for someone who cares.
OK off the soap box now.

We didn't do a lot of the touristy stuff this time as we were happy just to spend time together as a group. We did spend the day at waterbon and had a great time. Just the lazy river for me these days.
My wife loves sewing and one of the greatest finds for her was Alta Moda which is four floors of materials. She was in heaven and thanks to the BTF poster who told us about the place. We will definitely need extra luggage next time.
She also had some tops made at the ever reliable Brisbane Tailor, these guys are great and always deliver a high standard.

That's about it for now, thanks for taking the time to read and I hope I have helped to make your next trip a little more enjoyable.

Happy and safe travels to you all
Frank
