To update you, most of Europe has laws similar to Australia (or stricter) as to smoking. For example smoking is since quite some time not allowed in many public areas like bars, restaurants, near schools, in and near playgrounds, in hospitals and the vicinity of them, on public transport and stations etc. etc.
But a lot of Europeans are like a lot of Australians when in Bali - they enjoy the freedom of smoking in public, among other freedoms there.
It is now more than six months since I stopped smoking and I do enjoy saving both my health and my money. I do not, however, care if people around me smoke as it is their business and also their problem.
