Firstly, if your not subtle and really dont care if your views offend why the "preemptive strike"? It makes you seem either insincere or insecure, neither of which is good! I am a fellow ex-smoker and regular Bali visitor. However, I do not share your annoyance with traffic, motorbike riders, hawkers or smokers. When it comes to Bali, they are all "part of the experience and magic of the place". I note you are preparred to accept some as such, but not others. Whilst I have chosen to no longer smoke and appreciate regulation of smokers in my country, I accept that in a very large part of the world it is very different. Bali is one such different place. To act in accordance with the law and accepted customs of a country does not make one an "inconsiderate pig". Instead, it makes the complainer an intollerant xenophobe. I would resent visitors complaining to me about something perfectly acceptable to me (in my own country) on the basis it may be offensive to them. Certainly, if they took the "by product" approach advocated by you in your simplistic and crass analogy, they would likely lose the use of their legs and require the use of a catheter for the future elimination of "by product". By using the adjective "brainless" are you are referring to motorcyclist's style of riding or their lack of insurance? Or both? The consequences of their actions are patently obvious, should they chose to ride irratically and/or without insurance then they have no right complain. Likewise, unless their actions endanger you or your loved ones, you have no right to complain. With freedom of choice comes responsibility for the consequences of those choices. Finally, bluster, arrogance and mere assertion do not make you right. They make you nothing more than a blowhard. And that inconsistency/insecurity arises again in inviting flaming but then saying save it for someone who cares! My final comment is that perhaps another destination would suit you better? Leave Bali to those of us who can handle it (both good and bad).
