Like many, in the aftermath of the bombings just 72hrs previously, I have been in the unenviable position of having to decide whether to fly out today with my family to Bali. It was with huge regret that we chose to cancel, deciding that we could not risk taking our young family and that the stress of knowing it could happen again/had just happenned, would ruin our holiday anyway. (Please do not judge me. This was a very personal and stressful decision to make).
Our Travel Agent has now confirmed that Garuda will not charge any cancellation fee, nor will the wholesaler or hotel. The Travel Agent though, will charge a $165.00 per person cancellation fee. That's a total of $660.00. If we rebook through them (to anywhere) within the next 6mths, we will not lose the $660.00.
Although I am grateful that we will not be losing the lot, I do feel it is rather mean of the Travel Agent to be benefiting from other peoples misfortune if we do not book another trip. What are your thoughts?
