I am not a travel agent, but understand that the agency works on commissions on sales and bookings. If they were to make a full rebate on travel arrangements then they in fact wouldnt earn any dollars. Some staff, in my understanding, are paid a set weekly salary (and yes do get some perks of cheap trips and tours) so those dollars have to be generated some how.
No-one would ever expect to go to the doctor and not pay a fee, whether or not the doctor cured the ailing, or paid their accountant for good or bad advice, or solicitor.
How awful if the agency staff were to have to forego there salary for the immense extra work load, for the next few weeks.
I am all for user pays. They have done the work so in my opinion deserve to be paid.
I think that Rubys agent above has been most generous in offering to waiver the fee if another booking is made.
