Hi. I asked a question a few days ago re how can one ensure that the rental (car or scooter) company you are renting from is fully licensed to rent out vehicles but alas did not get any useful answers. I would love to know if anyone knows how one can ensure that the rental company is appropriately licensed.
Also what has anyone's experience been in any claims made to travel insurance companies as a result of a having an accident in Bali. It's just that while I have an internat. permit/license and have driven in Bali for many years with no real problems (a few tiny 100,000 Rph type things including someone trying to break into our vehicle) I want to 100% ensure that I am covered for anything more major vechicle wise by my travel insurance company. For that I understand that I have to rent off a licensed rental company.
Also what have people's experiences been in getting any more major accidenmts covered by local rentail companies - in the case where you have rented (with full insurance - maybe with a smallish excess)?
Please note that I ask the above not just for myself but also for the large number of other forum members who likely rent in vehicle of some type in Bali and drive around 'legally' drivers permit/license wise - while feeling confident that they have the protection of travel insurance in the case of an accident.
Safe and happy travels - 3 weeks today and we arrive for a month.
