and thanks for these. But are all/most of driving around in a third world country even when we have the right drivers licenses with us basically uninsured first or third party by both the local insurance policies we are told we have - and also by our travel insurance because the companies we are renting off are almost all 'not really' licensed? If so this scares the &*&% out of me - and I have been doing it for years (therefore) but bit before...

I still want to drive in Bali for my stay in May but really really want to (if it's possible that is) to rent of a company in Bali that has both good 'local' insurance, and also which is a licensed/registered one that would hopefully meet the requirements of my travel insurance co. should I ever need it (without going to my ins. coy. first to check).

Final question is, who amongst us would recommend that a tourist comes to NZ or Aussie and rents from a small local company that has 'kind of' insurance (but you are really relying on their good will which in the case of a major prang might disappear pretty quickly) - and also who would not be covered by their travel insurabce. Annnndddd that's not even taking into account that Bali road safety is a tad....

Sorry for being a pain - but I really want to drive in Bali (again) but also want to know (in my oldish age) that I am insured to some reasonable extent.
