I understand you have a baby that is sensitive to products etc and yes I do have children (one of whom is chronic asthmatic and both have extremely sensitive skin) however I don't feel your complaint is really justified. You were aware of the luggage allowance prior to travel and by the sounds of how much you had to unpack you were well and truly over. The woman at check-in may not have been the nicest person but she was just doing her job. She was more likely to have been fed up with people trying to stretch the boundaries then she was to have been fed up with crying babies on long flights. Lets face it everyone who is over their baggage allowance feels they have a justifiable reason for it. You cannot expect the checkin staff to turn a blind eye to everyone and in actual fact they shouldn't turn a blind eye to anyone. I would personally rather them be strict on the allowance and know my plane is not going to fall out of the sky. It may sound harsh but fair is fair. You are given a weight allocation for a reason - stick to it or pay the price. I don't think you will find things any different on other airlines these days.
