I have flown with Garuda, Air Paradise and Australian Airline to Bali beofr and called prior to going and was allowed 10kgs extra to take items over to sponsor children and clothing donations. I had heard that most airlines are lenient within 5kgs. As I said I did expect to pay for a few kilos which I was happy to do. But not $300. Especially when I saw her allow other 3kgs extra and she was umming and ahhing about my 1kg after I repacked. So she turned a blind eye to some but not me.

I very much doubt allowing me a few extra kilos would make the plane fall out of the sky... As I said I am below average weight 57kgs. My baby 7.5kgs, and my husband 75kgs all of us small. Perhaps if I weighed 120kgs my baby 15kgs and my husband 120kgs and we also took extra luggage. Maybe airlines should allow you extra weight depending on how much you weigh. Maybe that would be an insentive to bring down the obesity crisis going on in the world!!!
