"After we had checked in I sat down and fed my baby and watched this lady not weigh anybody elses hand luggage and allow people to have 3 kilos over in their luggage."

How you could possible know what other people's luggage weighed when you were sitting away from the check in counter really has me baffled. You are making assumptions about what you believed happened. Unless you were right there at the checkin counter with the other passenger there is no way you could know this information.
You stated you were asked to pay $300 in excess charges which would indicate that you were about 30 kilos over if they were charging at $10 per kilo. Between yourself, your husband and a baby you would have had an allocation of about 50 kilos. Thousands of others travel with babies and do not exceed their luggage allowance. You are peeved because you didn't get away with it. At this stage a passengers weight does not even factor into this discussion because that is not the airline policy. I weigh less than you so does that give me the right to more luggage allowance to you, NO. As I said before, if you are not happy to pay the excess charges for every kilo you are over then stay within your luggage allowance. I can just imagine the attitude you gave the woman at check in and I am not surprised you received the response you got from her.
