Not sure how long this message will last but hope for a while. It's not advertising, just a word of warning.
A guest arrived at Beach Melati Apartments late last night - flew in Jet* - so got there around 11pm. She had a RatesToGo booking confirmation for an apartment for a week. The apartments were totally booked and had received no notification of a booking for this guest although she had a confirmation voucher and had paid a deposit. One apartment was empty but not cleaned as the previous guest had late check out and housekeeping finish at 4 so it would have been cleaned first thing this morning. The manager organised for a member of housekeeping to return and clean the apartment so the guest finally got in around 12pm but this apt is booked to someone else arriving today.
There is no way to contact RatesToGo on a weekend as their offices are only open Mon-Fri 9-5. I managed to get on to hotels.com first thing this morning. I spoke to a lady in their Indian office who worked in the central booking area for all of this group of companies. She also could not find any record of a booking for this lady and no record of payment. The phone numbers that were passed on to the guest (by me) didn't work so she is no closer to solving this riddle. She now has to move to Jayakarta for 2 nights and then back to Beach Melati in a couple of days when they have a vacancy.
My advice - even if booking through one of these last minute discount companies, it is a good idea to email or phone the hotel prior to your arrival to make sure they have received notification of your booking.
