Left at 01.10 DPS. no probe at the final Security Check.
Went downstairs, and ALL carry-on was weighed - scales n all. Glad we were early, as many passengers were queued up for some time for this final check.
Thankfully MANY WERE CAUGHT OUT being way overweight. They were required to repack and pay for the "extra".
Before you start to flame me, consider this;
A full aircraft 200 + passengers, all carrying "overweight" carry-on. This isn't included in the Flight Captains calculations. Each passenger (aka Pax), is allowed ONLY the prescribed weight allowance for a reason. It's called Maximum Take-off Weight (MToW), atmospheric conditions at the time. (FYI; The latter is called Area QNH. aka, air density/pressure. This is critical for take off and landings ). It includes the weight of the aircraft, PLUS fuel load, PLUS weight of the total passengers on board, PLUS the amount of baggage that is loaded into the hold. Bearing in mind that everybody has only the "prescribed" weight allowance per passenger.
Consider that IF every passenger carried on board 10kgs more than their allowance just how much weight would be on your aircraft Is your extra Dresses, Suits, footwear and souvenirs really worth the risk??
Having been employed in the aviation industry for >15 years, please don't be responsible for my death or that of my family, by trying to be an "irresponsible cheat" by carrying more on board than what you are permitted to carry.
I, and my family thank you for being a responsible air traveller.
