this morning I attempted to book a round trip Perth to Bali
At the payment processing point I received a message indicating the transaction had failed as the ticket was no longer available at the price or someone had booked my nominated seat [words to that effect]
It clearly stated that my credit card had not been charged.
I checked and saw no emails or other evidence that i had been charged so I subsequently booked the same dates the only difference being the afternoon flight to Bali was now the cheaper option so I booked that flight instead.
On later checking my Credit card account I suspected that the original transaction had been processed. On checking my AA account I found my assumption correct.
After contacting AA it was indicated that as the outgoing flights are different times AA do not regard this as a double booking. They did however offer me a credit for future flights that must be booked within 2 months of receiving the credit.
I declined this option as I have other flights booked next year as well and will have no accrued holiday time left to use.
They then indicated that I should email a request for a refund to guestsupport. I am not holding my breath on this and fear I will not see a refund.
My bank has indicated that they may be able to dispute the payment once they [AA] take the amount past authorisation only and fully draw down the amount.
Too bad this will take time and I wont see the money back before my December 15th trip to Bali or Christmas. 2 things i would rather use my money on.
Why am I writing this; I am looking for suggestions and moral support.
At this stage I may get my money back just not as fast as i would like.
