Just wondering if any of you have ever come back from Bali and been diagnosed with Thyphoid fever? We got back a week ago (16 girls from Canada) and one of the girls went to the hospital yesterday as she was really sick. They did blood and stool tests and have already told her that she has thyphoid and are still testing for malaria.

We spent 12 nights in Bali and then in Hong Kong. She was good for the first few days after arriving home (other than jet lag) but then got a huge fever, chills, body aches, diarrhea, weight loss etc. She was never ill during our time in Bali but does have a weak immune system.

I'm not looking for any diagnosis as she's already had that done but just wondered if anyone else has had this happen. I've been to Bali 17 times and have never heard of anyone getting thyphoid fever.

Her Dr. said that everyone should be vaccinated for it before travelling to SE Asia and this was new to me as well.

They put her on a heavy dose of antibiotics but siad it would take at least 4 days to start feeling better. I just wonder if she could have picked it up in HKG or even on the flight home.

Thanks - Cathy
