beach towels and money

first time to bali, should I pack our beachtowels (bulky, heavy etc) or just buy cheap ones over there? anyone been before that can help me out??

also should we take Rupiah, AUS and travellers cheques? we have debit cards and credit cards also...what is the best form to take over there?
