no need to take beach towels you can use the hotel ones. maybe take some rupiah with but always be carful of the money changers as the bad ones can rip you off.we used atm's most of the time and put ourselves on a budget of taking out so much money per day but that only worked sometimes (depending on how much shopping we did)
The best way to learn things in bali is to try to talk to other aussies in your resort thats how we learnt most people are happy to help you with where to shop and get massages.
