Your hotel will provide beach towels.
As for the money, we only take cash and use credit cards for major purchases. When you pay for the VOA ($25US on arrival in Bali), you can pay with Australian dollars and they'll give you Rupiah in change. That will pay for the first drink. Most hotels have security boxes at the front desk, or in-room safes. If you ask the hotel for a reputable money changer they should be able to recommend one. There are plenty of them out there (Kodak shops usually come well recommended), but unfortunately everyone seems to get ripped off at least once per trip.
