As a single mother I have struggled to save money for my dream holiday with my 2 daughters. It took me 5 years to save enough money for a 1 week holiday.
Everything was going fine until we reached Bris International at 1.00pm and were told our flight was delayed until 6.30pm (supposed to leave 4.30pm. We thought a 3and a half hour wait was bad, now it was over 5 hours. After waiting over 7 hours they cancelled our flight!! Garuda arranged for us to fly to Sydney and leave at lunch time the following day to Bali. Not bloody good enough we had lost a night and nearly a full day in Bali.
To top it all off when we got to our hotel they could not find our booking, as we were a day late. We took 2 hours trying to sort that mess out, I then needed to get my itinerary out of my suitcase and even though the porter was standing there, he did not help me lift my suitcase from the trolley. I struggled and fell sideways down a ramp, the ensuing result was a torn ligament in my left foot.
GREAT!!! I spent the remaining 4 days hobbling aroung Bali, unable to do many of the activities we had planned.
I have written to Garuda Airlines to see if they will offer any form of compensation, but have not heard from them as yet. As I said 5 years of saving for a total disaster!!!
Has anyone else had any similar experience and did you recieve any type of compensation?
