Having stayed at Kumala Pantai on several occasions and having booked over the phone directly with the hotel, I did not foresee any problems with doing the same this trip. Phoned KP in February and booked 6 nights accommodation for 27 April - 3rd May twin room. Then when booking airfare decided it was more beneficial to me to book a package so I booked 2 nights accommodation at KP through Garuda (27-29 April). Phoned KP again and explained that Garuda were booking two nights and the other four would be paid by me. I offered to pay immediately by c/card but I was told it was not a problem. I checked and double-checked they understood the booking and he confirmed that I had one twin room for 6 nights. Phoned last night to get a room number and was told that they only had a booking for me for two nights and that they were full. Phoned Garuda to see if I could cancel the two nights and they contacted the hotel to explain what had occurred and to ask for the cancellation fee to be waived. Garuda have just advised that the hotel wants one night's accommodation if I cancel the booking. This hotel is where my family and their friends are staying prior to a wedding so this is very disappointing and a right pain in the --- actually. Therefore, it will be two nights at KP then a move to another hotel and I am not sure if I ever wish to stay there again. Lesson to be learnt is get everything in writing.
