The Balinese don't need to ask tourist they befriend for money,.. that's why many offer it freely,..they're professionals at what they do,....and make a very good living at it,.... regardless of what they tell you or show you.....
When I worked in Bali I had some staff that would receive money regularly from over 10 people,....and of course the odd tourist that would leave a nasty note saying how poorly management paid and treated them,.....as they had lied about the wages paid and conditions
The friendly smile the offer of friendship comes at a price,.. you mayn't know it but one way or another no Balinese does anything for nothing.....
Now if you check around this forum you'll find the vast majority of those that frequent Bali do much the same as you, for much the same reason,........this will not change as the Balinese are a lot smarter than the average tourist.....
PS yes the Balinese love Aussies, because they're the most gullible of ALL tourists....
While I understand most don't agree with the above and nothing will stop them,.. but this forum is to help with advice that MAY help some.......
