After my last trip this year and would have to say I believe what you say. Every trip I stock up on new clothes and gifts for two families and my massage ladies on the beach. This trip was my fourth time in giving these items to the same people and only one of them remembered my name. After the bombing when most of them lost their jobs I gave them money to help out. I was most upset that they couldn't even remember my name.
