lasting friendships over there? We were very good friends well before the bombings, and I for one, would never have been able to sleep if I had the opportunity to help our friends, and had not done so. She never once had asked for money, we offered it.
In return we've made lifelong friends, who if you want to measure it in entirely a monetary value, have probably spent far more on us than we ever gave to them. But far more importantly we've both made some very close friends. We regard each other as sisters, & they've certainly done things for us that no-one else has ever in my life experience.
We've gotten to do what many visitors never do, & to become temporary members of an arisan, where we've made even more friends.
I would never have been arrogant enough to question their original motivation, but I certainly know what it is now. Next year, we've got the honour of going to Java with them. Oh, and these terrible people are Javanese, also.
I'm sorry that all your experience of life is so miserable.
