The photo of the kitchen posted with the review looks like a normal kitchen in a middle-class Balinese home to me. It looks pretty similar to the kitchen in many homes I've been to in Bali, including those rented by expats. The 2 burner 'camping stove' is pretty much what everyone uses in Indonesia (those who are on gas that is, which is a luxury). If you were given the more standard kerosine stove, I would agree it would be a complaint as you probably wouldn't know how to operate it.

Damp in the wall - it's the tropics in a developing nation. Just about every building leaks. You fix it and it breaks again. It is a constant battle.

Generator not powerful enough for a hair dryer? Sorry again, but truly expecting too much for the price. I thought it was pretty good that there was a generator at all. Have you any idea what they cost to own and run?

About the only thing I saw as reasonable in your list of complaints was the mattress on the bed. For the price you would expect a clean mattress, hopefully a reasonable spring mattress.

Still, by posting your review, others looking at the villa have a better picture of what to expect for that price in the heart of Legian. So thanks.
