On my recent trip to Bali I had to be hospitalised for a couple of days at BIMC. I awoke early hours one morning and my neck and tongue was so swollen I could hardly breathe. I was on my own and unsure what to do and called BIMC (I had the number programmed into my phone thankfully). I initially asked them to send a Dr to me but they said it sounded like I would need further treatment and offered to send Ambulance. I declined this and got reception to call taxi. BIMC said they would be waiting for me.

I got there and they whisked me straight into Emergency and started treatment. The mix of medication they had to administer sent me into shock, with blood pressure dropping dramatically. I had Drs and nurses around me at all times and I was stabilised and admitted. The treamtent I received was absolutely wonderful and they tested me for just about everything. Once I was able to eat, the meals were delicious.

I was diagnosed with angiodema, a severe allergic reaction to something, which we could not determine what. Once all the swelling went down I was discharged with a heap of medication to take for the next few days. BIMC made all the contact with my Insurance Co(Covermore)and sent me follow up emails with test results, and instructions to come straight back in if I had any further problems. I paid up front ($1300) and put my claim in when I got back and received full reimbursement.

I feel very reassured that the medical treatment is of such a high standard. I would advise everyone to have a Credit Card on them in case of such emergencies. I did try to get the Insurance Co to pay up front but it was too difficult to get everything processed in such a short time.

I am going back in December and just hope that this was a one off as I hadn't eaten or drank anything out of the ordinary.
