On the the way to Tanah Lot last week the whole road was blocked off and everyone was checked for license and tourist license, this included vans, bikes and taxis. The fine for not having any of those licenses was about 3million Rp but if you could not pay you could choose to spend 3 days in the lock-up..Great option...
