U.S. money date of issue question

I've made an effort to be sure all the U.S. bills I'm taking to Bali are year 2000 or later. But someone told me that to get the best rate they had to be 2006 or later! Is that true? Am I ok as long as they are 2000 or later, or do I have to go back to the bank? Thanks!
