My daughter is getting married in Bali next year, and we've had a few conflicting opinions of the legality of a wedding in Bali. Spoke to someone from deaths, births and marriages today and was told that if you get married oseas, it will be recognised here, but is not registered here. So you have to change your name when you get back, as you don't automatically take the grooms name. If you want it to be registered here, then you have to get married here, and not have the civil ceremony in Bali, only the religious ceremony. What could the implications be if it is not registered here? They told me to go and seek a lawyer to ask these legal questions. I don't think so!!
