We got married in Bali last July, when I got back to aussie I just went to all the places and showed my Balinese marriage cert and had no problem at all. Got licence, medicare, bank accounts, all cahnged into married name. You get two marriage cert (acually about six copies) one legal and civil i just took both and they never queried anythink.
I have come across one problem and that is changing title deeds on my house as I purchased it before I met my hubby. The bank wanted to charge me $500.00 but I think that is because hubby name is not on title deeds so I said can it just stay as it is and they said thats fine.
You can get a legal document from births, deaths, and marriages in aussie but it is just a name changing by deed pole and that cost about $250.00 but i wouldn't bother.
I can assure you the marriage is reconised in Australia but not registered, the same as everyone else that is married in another country.
There is only one problem and I hope it dosn't happen and that is if you want a divorce you have to go back to Bali (now wouldn't that be a shame lol)
Hope this assures you and your daughter a little bit.
Tell her she will not be dissapointed gettting married there as our day was well beyond any of our dreams.
If she needs any advise do a search for mooker and my jbr is on there.
I will go now i have rammbled enough but when it comes to weddings in Bali I cant recommend it enough.
ps I used to be mooker but somehow I could not log in, so I am now bonnieblue.
