Flights from NZ

On previous trips we have flown Garuda to Bali*Garuda has siezed flights from NZ. Our travel agent has suggested Emirates possibly via Brunei(Overnight stay). Any forumites flown Emirates and what is there luggage weight restriction(ie Are they really strict on the 20Kg or can it creep up 2 or 3 kg). Any feedback much appreciated.
