We're not long back and spoke to alot of the locals in Bali about the election and they told us the election was in June (not May).
I'd contact the consulate sometime before you go to Bali with the election happening, there maybe some civil unrest as it's the first time they have been allowed to vote in a very long time, so you can imagine what MAY go on as it's the first time in years they can have a say.
When we where there, there where a few rallies down the street from one of the parties and it's only early days yet.
If your staying is Nusa Dua your probably going to be ok as that place has only been set up for the tourist's and no Balinese are allowed to live in that area.
