I had trouble a few years ago. My husband and I had matching rings. Two tone gold with a diamond in each. My husbands diamond came out so we took it in to be refitted.
The ring came back in "one colour yellow gold" and the diamond was much bigger than the one we took in to be refitted.
I told them at the time but they said I was mistaken. I didn't believe them, but what can you do in Bali. Its not like Fair trading can help...haha
Anyway, got back to Australia. I took both rings to a jeweller here for comparison. I was told that my ring (which is considerably smaller than the husbands) actually weighed more. The Jeweller told me that my husbands ring was a good copy of mine but wasn't made of any gold and the diamond was in fact glass. Mine was confirmed as real gold and a diamond.
So it seems they made a copy of my husbands and gave that back to us and kept the original.
I have not gone back and have told people but many people don't believe me
