We are currently staying in Candidasa. For the past few days I have urged my children to respect Nyepi and it's traditions. And I must say that I have been very proud of them today, even if the 4 year old did get a little bit louder at times but with a gentle reminder he was okay again. Earlier in the day there was a man snorkelling right in front of our hotel (not a guest here) and when he was reminded by another guest (a Balinese woman) from this hotel that he should not be on the beach, snorkelling man flipped us all the bird and yelled at us to mind our own f ing business. Then when we went to the restaurant for dinner, there were 9 people in the beach area. Two were swimming, five were fishing and two were walking in the shallows from one hotel to another. Makes it a bit hard to get your children to respect the cultures and beliefs of a country they are visiting when adults show such blatant disregard towards them.
