After a fair bit of procrastination finally bit the bullet (as I had a heap of FF points about to expire with Singapore Airlines) and have booked my first solo Bali trip for a couple of weeks in May.
Have had a number of trips before with Mr "he who no longer has to be obeyed" (since he traded me in for a younger model!!) and can't really afford it - but hey ho..... so doing it on quite a tight budget.
Will be travelling from Sydney - obviously the loooong way round via SIN - with a 7 hour layover going over - but I know it is one of the best airports to have to spend that sort of time in
After hours of going through JBR's from the last few months and madly reading Trip Advisor reports I have booked the initial 5 nights at Secret Garden Inn - in that madness that no doubt is still Kuta - then 4 nights out at Candi Dasa at Temple Cafe and Seaside Cottages
Still have to work out where to spend the last 5 nights - so any suggestions happily listened to - probably back down south
I'm from the vintage of 1955 - so sadly no longer a spring chicken - but certainly not an oldie yet!! Have happily stayed over the years in Tuban, Kuta, Legian, Sanur, Nusa Dua, Amed, Ubud, Lovina, Pemuteran, Gili T and CD before, in everything from $10 a night dive centre accomm to the Maya at Ubud - the big resort hotels - Dynasty, Bali Garden, Jayakarta, Kumala Pantai etc are not for me - NOT that I can afford anything like their prices anyway
Will probably be bugging you all with questions in the next few weeks - but promise I'll do a JBR again on my return
