... hamburger while its hot and fresh, it can be a dusty noisy place to sit and "try" to hear Gary's stories ... the roads (I am afrade to say) will be worse than what you may remember.

With all the black sand and stone that needs to be transported from the east slope of Mt Agung to down south where more hotels need to be built "NOT !", they all come through Candidasa. On the way down south, always overloaded with the occasional tyre blow out - now THAT makes a bang !), yet on the way back, they drive like maniacs, trying to get 3 loads trucked in a day.

Candidasa is meant to be 40kph - I WISH !

BUT, even with the trucks, it's still a great place to live :-)

Fajar - yes, now Ashyana, but I would not say upmarket, just a very nice place to stay, clean & tidy, with a manager (Wayan) that cares about the place), and a great restaurant (ocean end of the property) called La Zat.

Pondok Bambu is still ok, and does have a bit of sand still left down the steps from their restaurant next to the breakwater, so if you like an ocean swim, this is a good place to paddle out from.

Shirley is still Shirley ... same same :-)

I'm sure you enjoy your stay here !

Regards, Geoff

hmmm, Gary's hamburgers ... maybe I'll duck out and get one now !
