The maximum you should have paid for 8 pieces of luggage is Rp40.000 and maybe a tip of Rp10.000 to keep them happy.
If people continue to pay ridiculous amounts like $20.00 for 6 bags, it sets a precedent for porters to rip off tourists with outlandish prices.
