well said and 100% true, the Balinese children living in abject poverty are a little more deserving of help as opposed to the Karmic hindu reborn dogs. Look at the Balinese religious and cultural beliefs and hey ?! - maybe it is their culture and traditions and we should respect their attitude and behaviour to dogs in the context of their life and beliefs. If you really don't want to help humans, in lieu of dogs, it is actually the pigs that really need your help compared to the dogs. Listening to and watching the pigs slaughtered during religious ceremonies is very confronting given our attitudes, beliefs and emotions. But it isn't our place to interfere and judge- their gods need the blood on the earth on the last day of the 3 day ceremonies from a cockfight, so be it, not up to us to then ban cockfighting if we don't like it. Another belief - Dogs are humans reborn into that realm due to past deeds - so be it. If you don't like or agree with it - don't place your western ideas into their cycle of belief - don't go to Bali and interfere with ages of beliefs.Humans are fortunate to be reborn as humans - supporting the beliefs and traditions of the country you are visiting might be more beneficial for all concerned. Good luck with your endeavors perhaps helping out an australian dog charity would be more appropriate given we treat our dogs as members of our families as that is our beliefs, cheers, jan.
