actally reads the Indonesian newspapers. There are terrorist attacks of one sort or another all over Indonesia, almost all the time.
For some reson people like to imagine that Bali is either not part of Indonesia, or not part of the largest Muslim nation in the world.
At the moment, it's undergoing a fair amount of turmoil. Of course it's not particularly safe.
But comparing it to Australia is a joke.
When was the last time In Australia, that one particular religious group was given tacit approval for the assault, disposession and murder of another slightly differing religous group?
In Indonesia, when it happens, the victims get blamed, for causing civil unrest.
When was the last time in Australia that a young student, ONLY for claiming his atheist views in a public forum got beaten up and arrested?
None of this stops me going to Indonesia, (I don't only go to Bali), but I go with the full knowledge that it's NOT a particularly safe place at times.
Life is not safe, no one gets out of this alive.
