Late on Friday night,on Nusa Lembongan, a Balinese gang member (the gang call themselves JIBAKU, which loosely translates to "Suicide gang") was shot and wounded by the owner of Mainski after an altercation. This gang is known to go on drunken rampages on the island intimidating businesses and making demands for drinks and providing "protection" for businesses predominantly owned or operated by Westerners. This is the tip of the iceberg, don't get me started on the corruption that is rife in the gaining of permits to build on the island. Then again, corruption is all over Bali, why should it be any different over on Nusa Lembongan? I supposed that it has ben covered up for reasons of bad publicity for the island. Let's hope that Friday's event will open up a can of worms! There is a piece about the incident on the balidiscovery website, they have the names and details a bit wrong, but the news is out there.
