Rabies outbreak

Hi there,
Just saw on the news there is a rabies outbreak in Bali...can someone please put this into perspective for me as I don't like to rely on television too much. We are coming in a couple of days and it is too late for vaccinations (which I have never taken and am a real traveller) as the risk is generally considered low unless you are working or playing with animals etc...
Just an update of the reality would be nice, thanks!
