The girls have been having an absolutely wonderful time & love Bali BUT unfortunately the girls have had a bit of bad luck recently in Bali. They were standing around, relaxing & talking at night in Poppies 2 to a group of locals that they were friends with. Some A-- hole on a motor bike drove by & within an absolute spilt second my daughter's friend had her purse stolen out of her bag.Neither of them or their friends could have stopped this happening. It was so quick, they gave chase but it was too late, the A hole thief had gone & was no where to be seen.
I had warned the girls that this happened but you never think it's gonna happen to you & no matter how careful you are you CAN get caught! Many of the local shop keepers saw what happened & came to their rescue & were very sympathetic. They were driven home to their hotel & the staff at Kuta Town Houses were absolutely wonderful. One of the security staff drove them to the police station while they did a report.
I did advise them they may need to make a donation to the Local policeman's retirement fund BUT they were not asked at any stage for one single rupiah! Naturally both of the girls were very upset & in tears at the time. The police officers interviewed both my daughter & her friend separately & they both said that every thing was very professional & well documented. They were offered a written report without asking at no charge !
Sincere Kudos to the Kuta Police station - they did themselves proud ! The girls have also been ben very impressed with how caring the staff at KTH were.Hopefully Liz will be covered by her travel insurance for the money she had stolen(minus her excess).I consider I bought the girls a fairly comprehensive travel insurance policy so I promise to let you know how it all goes.
Many time fellow forumites ask questions about travel insurance policies but after all a policy is ONLY of any good or of use IF they actually pay up when you need to make a claim without putting you through the absolute 3rd degree & making life difficult for you or making you jump through hoops to get any money back from them.
