I expect a number of the regulars here are going "Oh no,not again" since they know this subject is a real bug bear of mine.I expect you have also realised that by now if you have gone back through the archives.
I realise if you have spent 2 hours in the archives that you have probably already seen some of posts. If you have tried reading the insurance policies your head is no doubt in a spin <LOL>
Anyway Aussie's riding motorbikes in Bali without any experience or an International licence for a motor bike riding is a bit of thing of mine & as a result I have done quite a few posts over the years.
All I can say if someone really wants to take their own life into their own hands & risk losing not only their life or being injured for life, losing their house or everything that they & their extended family own, then as adults it's their own choice but I still hate reading about it.I have no hesistation in saying that I personally think that anyone who rides a motorbike in Bali & has no previous experience in my opinion is a total idiot.I think life is too precious to waste & consider that everyone here would no doubt have someone special in their lives that would be horrified if someone they loved was injured in killed in a motorbike accident in Bali.
Since I do not work for an insurance company I may be wrong concerning your specific question so I do not guarantee the accuracy of my answer BUT I suspect that IF you are riding a Motor Bike in Bali & have a valid International Drivers licence which is endorsed for the classification for you to ride a motor bike in Bali > which means the only way you would be able to get this = meaning you have the licence classification to ride a motor bike in Australia (not just the specific class that WA allows you ride a bike under a certain cc's -without having a separate licence ) then as I understand it you should be covered by your travel insurance.
Since I doubt many forumites are up to date or know as much about the policies offered by travel insurance companies as the staff do & I don't wish to sound rude but I strongly suggest you call 2 or 3 travel insurance companies & ask your specific questions.I think the section of travel insurance policies your are referring to involves either personal or public liability. This can be a very involved area so you really need to phone the companies to get very clear answers, also always make sure you get the staff members name that you talk to.
Even though my husband holds a full motor bike licence in Australia & has done so for well over 20 years & always has a valid motor bike licence when he rides a motor bike in Bali there have often been times over the years that I have phoned our travel insurance company with specific questions before we leave home.I can not stress the importance of you doing the same.
I suspect you wouldn't listen to replies from people on the forum who offer medical advice so don't think your personal safety & financial security or any matters that involve travel insurance issues are any less important.
I sincerelt hope you will not be offended by what I have said but I make no apologies for having such strong feelings on these issues.
