i was at garden view last night and have been informed that any staff member there who is over 40 years old and/or who has worked there for over 15 years will be 'pensioned off'.
the owner is making the staff a nasty deal of just 7million rupiah to get them out. i dont think that this is legal, even in indonesia, as they do have laws to protect staff from this kind of behaviour.
yesterday, ten staff were informed that they could be pensioned off, or they have the choice of staying on, but being put in a job which is not in the front line with the general public.
i am sure that everyone on this forum who has stayed at garden view more than one time has gone back purely for the staff. it wouldnt be for the ambience of the rooms thats for sure.
this kind of thing is not on. the owner is making a killing on the place and to do this to some of his long serving staff is disgusting. he obviously doesnt know the word LOYALTY.
i urge anyone who is planning on staying at garden view to reconsider your choice. on top of that, i urge anyone who has stayed there before to bombard the hotel with faxes, emails, etc to stop this before it is too late. we are about to lose some of our favourite people but with a little help from you people on this forum, the owner may just re-think his idea.
come on, people. lets get into em. show your australian spirit and back these lovley people up. the owner has been paying his staff peanuts for years now and many of you people here earn more then their monthly salary in just one day or less.
please take a little bit of your time to stick it up the hotel and show them that people power works.
