i can understand though, if i had made a booking i would certainly think twice about staying there. my first thoughts were that this mongrel doesn't deserve any business, but maybe he has genuine reasons, who knows? perhaps there's another way to support the staff, rather than a boycott.
while i have never stayed there (many friends have) the bar is our usual watering hole and from 'memory' the many many jugs of Illusions plus an untold array of other beverages might well equal the cost of a room a hundred times over.
if i can put an idea to anyone wanting to let the owner know how they feel -
perhaps forwarding your emails to someone going over soon, they could then print them off and hand deliver them, a bit like a petition. we all question whether any emails ever reach their destination in Bali and this would make sure they arrived safely.
i'm happy to head the cause as i feel strongly about the situation, but i'm not heading over there until May.
