Disregard the Surcharges and Taxes from today's fares and you will see that they are, in most cases, lower than you were paying then.
????????????????????????

What sort of rose coloured glasses do you actually wear??? or have you been drinking to much ros'e wine?
How on earth can or should anyone disregard the surcharges and taxes on todays flights? are they not part of the "flight price" and are they not mainly made up of an extra charge for fuel by the airlines and therefore an integral part of the price no matter that the airlines try to hide the actual price they are charging you for a flight. These "surcharges" should be included in the upfront price advertised, surely not even you think, looking through rose coloured glasses, that these "surcharges" are only temporary and are likely to be dropped any time soon? the fact is that most airlines have "hedged" the price of a lot of the fuel they use in advance and know exactly what the cost will be for a decent length of time in advance so they can plan the flight costs without too many fluctuations.
